Glitzernd überragen himmelhohe weiße Hänge die tiefen mystischen Wälder des Bregenzerwaldes, die von einem zugefrorenen Bächlein durchzogen werden, das ab und an über kleine Wasserfälle plätschert.

Wo hier in der kalten Jahreszeit Skifahrer seit jeher gemächlich Spuren in den Schnee ziehen, brechen mit dem Anbruch des Frühlings unzählige duftende Kräuter und wilde Blumen durch die Schneedecke. Sie erfüllen die nächsten Monate die Luft mit einer Fülle an würzig-feinen Gerüchen, locken das Wild aus den Wäldern und von den Hängen und laden Reisende zum Verweilen ein. Bis Ende Oktober die Tage wieder kürzer werden, sich funkelnder Raureif und schon bald wieder die ersten Schneeflocken über den Weiden niederlegen.

In addition, there are 200 km of high alpine powder snow slopes, 40 km of snowshoe hiking trails, 27 km of cross-country skiing trails, ice skating and curling areas, toboggan runs and much more - the winter wonderland of Arlberg is virtually limitless.

Summer time

In Summer the region is internationally popular, due to the quickly noticeable health benefits. At almost 1,500 metres, the air is virtually free of house dust mites and contains only a negligible amount of pollen. The so-called high-altitude stimulation climate in Schröcken-Nesslegg has a lasting positive effect on the heart, circulation and breathing.

But adrenaline is also well taken care of: if mountain bikers can get their money's worth in the mountainous world, the Bregenzerwald offers a lot more. If challenging canyoning tours or rafting on the Lech, Europe's last true wild river, is not enough for you, then why not jump off a bridge on a secure bungee rope in the Bregenzerwald.
